Baïgorry : from the basque  " ibaï gorri " meaning  'the red river'.

Baigorry is a typical village in the Basse Navarre that has retained its authentic charm, nestled in one of the greenest valleys and overlooked by the Pyrenees foothills. A village with several neighbourhoods, fine buildings, a village centre with ancient houses, the so-called "roman bridge" with its unique arch over the river Nive, the   Château d'Echauz and the Church of St Etienne.

Well worth a visit!

There are numerous festivities in Baïgorry : Noce Basque with singing and dancing, festival de force basque (the traditional games of strength), Fêtes and Concerts.
Nearby are the famous Irouleguy vineyards which you can visit ; the only wine area in the Pays Basque.
Baigorry is at the heart of superb walking country, with numerous trails and hiking paths through the Iparla hills, with Spain just over the nearby Col d'Ispéguy.
